The photo above was lifted from a video interview of MS Wad reflecting upon the essence of great architectural design. He could teach a Master Class in Architectural Design. The expensive homes he designs on Lake Minnetonka for very wealthy people are over the top crazy cool. He starts each design by thoroughly getting to know what his client's objectives and dreams are for the prospective home. Then he starts with flair pen on bumwad, getting all the prime concepts and relationships understood. From there it's a continual refinement and discovery of details that make each project so special. His clients are primarily the super wealthy. This brings up a conundrum for him. On the one hand they want a home that is in great excess of what is needed and as such consumes a disproportionate amount of resources. But on the other hand, each project provides work for hundreds of crafts people, keeping the economy humming. Some of us Bumwads might have been asking, why doesn't he retire like the rest of us? It becomes evident upon touring one of his homes with him that he loves what he does. His entire experience as an architect up to this point has prepared him for the next design challenge, which is an exciting prospect for him. One observation upon doing a walk through with him is that he is essentially a Dream Maker... making dreams come true better than the client could imagine or describe.
