2024 Golf for Fun

The 2024 golf season offers another opportunity to shine!

At the end of today's round, our scorekeeper who wasn't wearing corrective lenses, announced that we were two over par, which is rather impressive. However, an audit by one of the Wads wearing prescription glasses, found that there were more par five holes than the scorekeeper accounted for, thereby adjusting the overall round to one under par! Not only did prescription glasses help our score but, full disclosure, the group also has been teeing off from the women's tee box this year, although some might call them the transgender tee box to account for the group's gradual transition. We're still working on the correct wording for the most forward tee boxes. Any suggestions?

Beautiful day for meandering through beautiful landscape.

Always fun to play at our alma mater's course. Some pretty good shots mixed with some pretty bad shots as individuals, but as a team we had a very respectable three birdies and four bogeys so we came into the clubhouse just one over.

In the scramble format all we need is for one player to have a good shot at a time. Magically this works allowing the other three players to have not so great shots 75% of the time. Very rarely, as on fairway #13 pictured above, three Wads hit great drives at the same time that landed very tightly together. Time for high fives!

It was a perfect weather day for golf, and three Wads were there to enjoy it. With no one holding them up in front, and keeping their balls easily findable, they were able to play the 18 holes in 3 hours and 15 minutes, which is 45 minutes faster than a normal good pace. Probably the fastest Bumwad round ever.

Even though t
hey are not Olympic athletes, the par three on hole number 12 was memorable because all three players hit the green on their tee shots...that rarely happens. Feeling a little giddy they tried trick shots to sink the putt.

Another great day to swing many clubs many times amongst Bumwad buddies!

Almost late for the photoshoot, RR had to RRush. No one knows the last time he moved so fast...luckily he didn't injure himself!

Here are the three amigos that showed up today to comprise the Bumwad team du jour.  As always, taking turns shooting the best shot and having fun was the recipe for the day.

Five Wads played as one team. Unfortunately two of the team members didn't get the memo regarding wearing a blue polo shirt.

Even though we play Scramble (Best Ball), sometimes the best drive of all five players can be off to the side of the fairway such as the case in the photo above. All five team members had a chance to see if they could thread the needle and punch a recovery shot through the large trees between us and the distant green. Luckily somebody made it through the trees so that we could get a par on this hole. That's the way the day went. All five players contributed the best shot at different times. As a team they ended up with 15 pars and three birdies.

Sandwiching a beautiful day between two days of rain for our first golf day of the 2024 season.
The air was crisp, clean and springtime buds were bountiful. Even though the assembled team had quite a few bogies they are proud that they didn't have any double bogies. Getting seven pars is something to feel good about and it gives room for continued improvement as the season moves along.
