Golfing is a natural for social distancing during Covid-19...
after teeing off, everyone goes in a different direction!
New this year, can either play by oneself or Scramble format, keep score or not keep score. The most flexible golf you'll ever play. It completely takes the pressure off and has made golf fun as opposed to heartache golf.
Seems like all golf leagues have end of season award banquets. Bumwad golf is no exception. Immediately below are photos of our end of season award ceremony on November 5 at Hiawatha
Russell Wad being awarded a bottle of rum for his favorite Happy Hour drink, rum & coke, in recognition of his contribution to team play both on and off the course.

A gorgeous November 5 at Hiawatha was our last golf event for 2020. Seen here with fast approaching long shadows of dusk, the sun literally went down on our season. Fluorescent balls help track and identify who's who. We golfed into the sunset, what a great way to end another Bumwad golf season.
Lots of notable highlights:
> We played scramble. Rarely did the same guy get two best shots in a row = TEAM GOLF.
> Had two birdies, many pars and of course, some bogies.
> Sometimes, Mags Wad was a consistent long ball shooter.
> On #6 Grant Wad putted in for par with a 5-Iron because he was too lazy to go get his putter.
> On #7 Gary Wad chipped-in from 70 feet... AMAZING!!!
> On #15 It appeared that D Wad chipped-in from 90 feet... but false alarm, the ball actually went past the cup.
> On #18 Russell Wad received accolades of clapping hands from people on the clubhouse patio as he chipped on to the green and then again latter as he dropped a 20 foot putt.
> All in all a great day on the links
On a blustery 50 degree October 1st, these brave Wads gave the Les Bolstad U of M Course everything they had. A highlight has to be M Wad's birdie that was all his own. They each had random moments of greatness followed by seeming incompetence. The sun came out now and then to lift their spirits. All in all another good day at the links.
During the course of the day at the U of M, Russell Wad hit three balls out of bounds six to ten feet beyond the chainlink boundary fencing. Most golfers would just say hasta la vista to those balls. Not Russell Wad! Using MWad's water hazard ball retriever, Russell tried with mixed success to get his precious balls back.

It is a championship course in which the PGA and LPGA have played in the distant past and has been recently updated to include very cool "bentgrasss" playing surfaces.
Keller #4 > A very challenging par 3 to say the least!
Keller #12 > GH Wad celebrates after sinking a 50 foot putt!

Later on, Russell Wad sank a 22 foot putt on #14!
Look at how smooth those greens are.
Keller #18 > Tough sand trap location caught three players' fairway shots.

We were pretty consistent as a group, for instance, all four of us had a great drive on #11, but on some other holes we all had terrible drives... but at least we were consistent... that's what golfers strive for!
